Residence Permits
A Turkish residence permit is the legal foundation for living in Turkey beyond the visa-free or e-Visa period. Whether you're staying for a few months or building a permanent life on the Bosphorus, choosing the right permit type — and avoiding the paperwork pitfalls that trip up first-time applicants — makes all the difference.
Short-Term Residence Permit
Ideal for property owners, retirees, remote workers, and those enrolled in short courses. Grants up to two years of stay, renewable, though it does not by itself grant a right to family reunification.
Family Residence Permit
For spouses, minor children, and dependent parents of Turkish citizens or permit holders. Valid for up to three years at a time and opens access to public healthcare and school enrollment for children.
Student Residence Permit
Tied to enrollment at a recognized Turkish institution, valid for the length of the academic program, and in some cases allows limited part-time work.
Long-Term Residence Permit
For those who have lived in Turkey continuously for at least eight years without extended absences or reliance on social assistance. Grants indefinite validity and near-equal footing with citizens on most civil matters.

Citizenship by Investment
The fastest route for eligible investors. Qualifying investments include real estate valued at a minimum of $400,000 (held for at least three years), a bank deposit or government bonds of $500,000, or job creation for at least 50 Turkish employees. Most applicants receive a decision within three to four months, with no residency or Turkish-language requirement, and may include a spouse and dependent children in the same application.

Work Permits
A valid work permit is mandatory for almost every foreign national employed in Turkey, and getting it wrong can jeopardize both the employee's status and the employer's ability to sponsor future hires.
Fixed-Term Work Permit
Tied to a specific employer and role, initially granted for up to one year, renewable and extendable up to three years on subsequent applications.
Permanent Work Permit
Open to foreign nationals who have completed eight years of continuous legal residence, or six years working for the same employer, removing the requirement to stay tied to a single company.
Independent Work Permit
For self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs, assessed individually on education, professional experience, and the economic value the applicant brings to Turkey.
Turquoise Card
An indefinite permit reserved for highly qualified professionals — executives, scientists, and specialists whose skills are considered valuable to Turkey. Turquoise Card holders enjoy rights close to those of Turkish citizens in the labor market.
For Employers
Sponsoring a foreign employee generally requires a minimum paid-in capital, a set ratio of Turkish to foreign staff, and demonstrated financial capacity. We advise companies on structuring applications so hiring plans are not delayed by an avoidable rejection.
